What is Overload?
Overload is a Team Playstyle added in eFootball 2027. It gathers players on the side of the ball to outnumber the opponent there, then breaks through the tight area with short passes. In a word, it takes the best parts of Possession Game and Quick Counter.
How Overload plays
In attack
After the ball goes wide, the full-back, DMF, AMF and CF gather on that side and pass quickly. Because you outnumber the opponent even in a tight area, the ball is hard to lose, and one-twos and picking up loose balls keep them pinned back.
In defence
Three players close down the player on the ball and put them under heavy pressure. The whole team shifts to that side and stays compact, so the middle is hard to break through.
Winning the ball
Win the ball in the opponent’s half and the forwards run forward at once for a quick counter. Close support keeps the ball first, and when the chance is there it goes forward fast.
Losing the ball
Right after losing the ball, the midfielders step up and several players press hard. Winning it back before the opponent settles gives you a quick counter from high up the pitch.
Overload vs Quick Counter
In the same situation, the positions of your teammates are different.
| Overload | Quick Counter |
|---|---|
| Players gather on the side of the ball | Players spread out from front to back |
| The DMFs play right next to the player on the ball | Less support close to the player on the ball |
| Easier to keep the ball and break through with short passes | Fewer short options near the ball |
Best formation for Overload: 5-2-1-2
Of the shapes we tried, 5-2-1-2 fitted Overload best, with four straight wins in Division 2.
- The two CFs and the AMF are close together, so it is easy to break through the middle
- If you lose the ball, the front three and the two DMFs can press high
- If the press gets beaten, the back five keep the defence from collapsing
